Last Week for TerraForms Terrain Kickstarter

We are down to one week left for our TerraForms Terrain Kickstarter!

Our campaign will be wrapping up at 9pm Eastern/8pm Central on Friday, June 24! As of now we are 275% funded with all stretch goals unlocked! Pledge now to get in before it closes!

One question we’ve been asked a lot

As we’ve been going through this process we’ve heard a lot of “Why did you go with 10mm?” The easiest part to explain is that it’s the scale we use for our own games that we play. Our team plays Heavy Gear: Blitz, a 1/144 or 12mm scale game. Diving a bit deeper into the answer, we created these pieces to be printed on our own 3D printers to use on our own tables. We had lots of people who started seeing our designs and asking us when we were going to have it for sale, how much it would cost, things like that. So we started researching and we realized that the 10mm and 12mm scale games are severely under served for available terrain. There are veritable boat loads of companies making terrain in 6mm, 15mm, and 28mm. As far as 10mm to 12mm scales we found almost nothing. Most of the companies we found in various listings online had long since gone out of business, or at least never responded to emails. Knowing that existing games like Heavy Gear as well as newer games like Dropzone Commander, and multi-scale games like Horizon Wars and Gruntz have been gaining steam recently we decided this was what we wanted. These games have been becoming more and more popular due to the lower cost of miniatures and a wider variety of rule sets becoming available, players can easily find their niche of enjoyment and get in on a game they can love at a price they can afford. So that’s why we chose this scale.

So what about the terrain?

The terrain is 10mm to 12mm (1/182 to 1/144) scale and designed with modern and sci-fi games in mind, with ‘themed’ lines including Rural, Urban, Industrial, and Futuristic. We knew this wouldn’t be a ‘million dollar campaign’ so we set our stretch goals at reasonable levels. The gaming community has surpassed our expectations and we just unlocked our last stretch goal! That means anyone pledging in during our last week is guaranteed to get a boatload of extra terrain for free with each pledge! As of time of writing we just moments ago had a few backers drop out, bringing our level back down below our stretch goal but we’ve decided to keep it unlocked and just go with it!

The "Urban" line of terrain includes everything you need to set up a crowded city center on your tabletop, including modular skyscraper buildings with additional floors available to commerce and city service buildings like pubs, stores, restaurants, police, fire, and waste management!

The “Industrial” line of terrain contains factories, manufacturing facilities, and power production facilities to bring an element of realism to your tabletop cities. These pieces are designed to fit well in both modern and sci-fi settings. This image includes all unlocked stretch goals.

The “Futuristic” line of terrain contains buildings and structures designed with a sci-fi aesthetic in mind and conjuring images and thoughts of circuitry, wireless everything, hoverboards, robotic efficiency, and Captain James T. romancing voluptuous Martian ladies. These pieces are designed to fit well in both modern and sci-fi settings and will help bring a futuristic feel to your tabletop cities. This image includes all unlocked stretch goals.

The “Rural” line of terrain is perhaps the most versatile of all the lines. This terrain line could be easily modelled and painted to represent any of several Middle Eastern or North African countries from recent history, a neighborhood or riverside village in Iraq or Afghanistan, or could be modelled up with sci-fi bits to represent a certain hive of scum and villainy in a science fiction setting. Throughout our past and even into our future man has need of locally sourced materials, easy to fabricate hand-made bricks and natural concretes that provide protection from sun and elements.
