Getting The Most Mileage out of the Man-O-War Chariots

With the Armored Corps CID wrapped up and many of its models coming out soon, it’s time to talk about the Man-O-War chariots!

After they spent a few weeks in CID, I personally think the chariots ended up in a pretty good spot. Fire Support or just a big honkin’ gun are pretty good looks for mobile weapons platforms such as these. Zipping around at breakneck speeds (for a Man-O-War!), these chariots bring something to the Armored Corps that isn’t found on very many of its theme force options: speed. With Advance Move from the theme force, these puppies can really put the pressure on your opponent’s advance from the top of turn one!

I’ve made two different lists here, both running double chariots. Each focuses on one type of chariot: Assault or Siege. Since we know having choices is awesome, the kit comes with both sets of weapons so you can make either the Assault Chariot or the Siege Chariot.

First off, the Assault Chariot:

Orsus Zoktavir, the Butcher of Khardov (Butcher 1)

This list brings a huge amount of firepower, and it is multiplied by the Butcher’s feat to great effect. The Assault Chariots are important to the list not only to clear out infantry on the approach but also to secure scenario zones. This list is quite slow with only one Kovnik; the Assault Chariots can really help the list survive scenario pressure while it brings its big guns to bear!

Spriggans are durable heavy warjacks that bring solid melee potential in addition to the utility of their flare launchers. Strike Tankers will put the hurt on heavier targets and serve as anchors in scenario zones while the Bombardiers post up and use their new once-per-game ability to fire twice in a turn. Many warcasters and warlocks need to be careful of the Assault Chariots directly hitting or even scattering AOEs onto them on the Butcher’s feat turn.

My second list is quite different from the first. This is a much faster list that pushes for scenario and attrition wins using double Siege Chariots!

Lord Kozlov, Viscount of Scarsgrad (Kozlov 1)

This list, led by the battlebox ’caster Kozlov, is a much faster army. With double Kovniks, it can speed up its units consistently while maintaining the Shield Wall order on its Shocktroopers. With Tactical Supremacy, those Shocktroopers will be blazing up the field like you’ve never seen! On the turn it’s time to charge, Kozlov’s feat will help keep both the units and the battle engines alive. Unyielding and +2 SPD goes a long way on models already this durable. Both the Shocktroopers and the Demolition Corps will smash just about anything you put in front of them when buffed with Fury. The Siege Chariots become a much harder nut to crack when they’ve got +2 ARM in melee combat, giving them a much higher chance of surviving and firing that huge siege cannon another time.

These are a couple of the lists I’ve played with the Man-O-War Chariots. What are your favorite lists with them? Let us know on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. You can preorder the Man-O-War Siege/Assault Chariot multi-kit now at store.privateerpress.com!
