We are very excited to announce today the closing of a deal with 20th Century Fox for the movie rights to Counterblast.  Stacey Snider, Chairman and CEO of 20th Century Fox Film, had this to say on the acquisition deal:

“We are very excited to have a fresh property as a flagship to the science fiction genre again after losing the distribution rights to another well-known property in 2012.”

Development will begin May 25th 2017, a hallmark date for the studio, but a director has yet to be determined. Rumors abound as to who will be selected for some of the more notable characters, but Weta Digital is already on board for the creature design.

Stacey Snider is the Chairman and CEO of 20th Century Fox Film (Fox), one of the world’s largest producers and distributors of motion pictures. The production divisions include Twentieth Century Fox, Fox 2000 Fox Animation/Blue Sky Studios, Fox International Productions and Fox Searchlight Pictures. The studio has annual revenue in excess of $8 billion and operates in more than 100 countries worldwide.
